Larry has been a dedicated Avonmore farmer since taking over the Hannon farm in 2003, and comes from a long tradition of family farming. With three generations of experience behind him, while the farm may have grown from 10 to 215 cows, Larry still follows his grandfather’s guiding principles.

“There’s no secret to great quality milk …a happy grass-fed herd!”
Did you know that one in three adults have not visited a farm in the past 5 years, and 1 in 10 have never been on a farm? We have created a fun on-pack mechanic bringing three soothing sounds from Larry's farm
What makes an Avonmore farm special
Avonmore farmers take great care and pride in the work they do. With a genuine passion for the welfare of their herd and the land they farm on, it’s no wonder their cows produce Ireland’s favourite milk.
It’s the who (and the moo) behind Avonmore farms that make them so special. That’s why before we partner with a farmer, we care a lot about how they farm.
Larry Hannon’s farm is only a stone’s throw away from our creamery in Ballitore. The milk from his herd is collected every second day, all through the year, so that from grass to table you get the freshest milk for your family. Have a listen to what life on a farm is like below.

BRR-ILLIANT!
“A little rain never stops Larry. Even inside the milking shed there’s plenty of work to do, making sure his cows stay happy and well.
Larry loves the sound of rain, especially when he’s warm and dry inside. Listen along as the clouds open up above the milking shed.”

“Larry’s cows love nothing more than stretching their legs around the field and munching on freshly grown grass. Om nom nom.
Have a listen to the sounds of a happy herd, on their way to the field for the day. How many cows can you hear?”

“Every day on Larry’s farm starts before sunrise as the birds begin their dawn chorus.
Listen to what a morning might sound like, as Larry does his rounds and checks on the herd.”
To guarantee the quality of our milk, we are really selective about the farmers we partner with, and more importantly, how they farm.
The farmers who supply us are all genuinely passionate about the quality of the milk that leaves their farm, the welfare of their herd and the land they make their living off.
Only when a farm satisfies our Quality Assurance Programme can it begin to supply milk for Avonmore.
Shane O’ Loughlin, Monasterevin, Co Kildare
Shane is the third generation of his family to farm in Monasterevin. His father Dermot started dairy farming in 1943 and started supplying the local creamery in Monasterevin in 1960. Back then it took six men to milk their 24 cows by hand but Shane now employs modern technology to milk his 200 cows to the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
Trevor & David Bennett, Abbelyleix, Co. Laois
David has been farming with his father Trevor since 2004 but Trevor has farmed beside the heritage town of Abbeyleix in County Laois since the early 70’s. Trevor witnessed the transition from bringing milk to the local creamery in Raheen in churns to the modern system employed by Avonmore which ensures maximum traceability and quality.
